Dynamics 365 Business Central
Read and manage customers, vendors, items, sales and purchase documents and ledger entries, and post invoices
Connect your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment to work with your ERP data from workflows and the chat: look up customers and open items, create sales orders and invoices, and post documents.
Authentication: OAuth 2.0 with your Microsoft account. Connect Business Central on the
Integrations page. You will be asked for the name of your environment (e.g. Production or
Sandbox, as shown in the Business Central address bar), then you sign in with Microsoft.
Before the first connection: an administrator of your Microsoft tenant usually has to consent to the app "Microsoft Dynamics 365" once. The integration acts with the permissions of the signed-in user in Business Central: whatever that user may not do in Business Central, the workflow may not do either. Only Business Central online is supported, not on-premises installations.
How data is addressed
- Company: every action works inside one company of the environment. Pick it from the list or look it up with List companies.
- Entity set: the kind of record in the Business Central API v2.0, in camelCase plural, e.g.
customers, vendors, items, salesOrders, salesInvoices, generalLedgerEntries. - Record ID: records are addressed by their id (a GUID), not by their number. To find the id
for a customer number, use List records with the filter
number eq '10000'.
Actions
List companies
Lists the companies of the connected environment with their id and name.
List records
Lists records of an entity set in one company.
| Input | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Yes | The company |
| Entity set | Yes | E.g. customers, salesInvoices |
| Select fields | No | Comma-separated field names, e.g. number,displayName,balanceDue |
| Filter | No | OData filter, e.g. balanceDue gt 0 or postingDate ge 2026-01-01 |
| Order by | No | E.g. postingDate desc |
| Expand | No | Related records, e.g. salesInvoiceLines |
| Limit | No | Maximum number of records (default 50, at most 1000) |
Get record
Gets a single record by its id, optionally with selected fields and expanded lines.
Create record
Creates a record from a JSON object of field names and values. Documents can be created together
with their lines, e.g.
{"customerNumber":"10000","salesInvoiceLines":[{"lineType":"Item","lineObjectNumber":"1896-S","quantity":2}]}.
Update record
Changes only the supplied fields of a record. If someone else changed the record in the meantime, the update fails instead of overwriting their change.
Delete record
Deletes a record, e.g. a draft document. Business Central refuses to delete records that already have ledger entries.
Post or convert document
Runs a business action on a draft document:
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Post sales invoice | Posts the invoice to the ledger |
| Post and send sales invoice | Posts the invoice and emails it |
| Send posted sales invoice | Emails an already posted invoice |
| Ship and invoice sales order | Ships and invoices the order |
| Convert sales quote to order | Creates an order from the quote |
| Convert sales quote to invoice | Creates an invoice from the quote |
| Post sales credit memo | Posts the credit memo |
| Post purchase invoice | Posts the purchase invoice |
Posting writes ledger entries and cannot be undone. In the chat, every writing action asks for your approval first.
