Connect GitHub

DeutschlandGPT works with GitHub through the DeutschlandGPT GitHub App. For the chat to read your repositories and — with your approval — create issues and pull requests, two steps are needed.

Step 1: Connect your GitHub account

1. Open Settings → Account → Integrations → GitHub and click Add connection.
2. Choose whether DeutschlandGPT may create pull requests and edit issues. Reading is always included.
3. GitHub shows “Authorize DeutschlandGPT” — confirm it.

Step 2: Approve organizations & repositories

Without this step DeutschlandGPT only sees public repositories. If no organization has approved the app yet, DeutschlandGPT sends you straight to GitHub's installation page after step 1.

• You own the organization: pick it, choose "All repositories" or single repositories, and click Install.
• You are a member: click Request. GitHub notifies the owners; once they approve, the repositories appear in DeutschlandGPT.
• Personal repositories: install the app on your own account.

GitHub then brings you back to the GitHub card. Under Approve organizations & repositories each organization shows "all repositories" or the number of selected repositories. Change opens that installation's settings on GitHub; add more with Approve another organization.

Connections from before the switch

Connections that still use the old GitHub OAuth App show “Switch to the new DeutschlandGPT GitHub App”. Reconnect now keeps the same connection — workflows and shares keep running.

If you work with repositories of a GitHub organization, an owner of that organization has to install the App before you switch — for every repository you need. Until the App reaches every private repository your connection reaches today, and every repository you can write to (your own included), the switch does not happen: your connection keeps working unchanged, and the card names whose repositories are still missing, with the Install the app or request access button.
