Transcript font size, the step limit per instruction, and keeping the computer awake while Code or Cowork works
Settings, Code holds three settings for longer agent work. The tab only appears if your account may use Code, although two of the settings apply to Cowork as well. All three apply to this device only.
Font size
The text size in the Code and Cowork transcript, for your messages and the answers alike: Small, Medium or Large. It does not change the rest of the interface. For that, use the zoom under General.
Max. steps per instruction
How many work steps Code carries out for one instruction before it pauses. When it reaches the limit, it stops and offers Keep going, so you can look at what happened so far before it continues.
Leave the field empty for Unlimited. Even then a single instruction never runs more than 1,000 steps.
Keep computer awake while DeutschlandGPT works
Prevents sleep while Code or Cowork is working, so a long task can finish while you are away. The display may still turn off, and closing a laptop lid still puts it to sleep.
Keep awake on battery power appears below it once the switch is on. Off, the computer is only kept awake while it is plugged in.
If you leave the switch off, you can still mark a single conversation: Keep computer awake in the menu of its row in the sidebar. That mark stays with the conversation, also after a restart. Either way the computer is only kept awake while a run is actually working or waiting for your approval.
