This feature is in beta. It is usable, but details can still change.
This page takes you from nothing to a chat on your website in about fifteen minutes. The setup assistant does most of the work; you decide and confirm.
Create the widget
Open Chatbot Widgets and choose New widget. The builder opens with the setup assistant docked on the right.
Name your website
Tell the assistant which website the bot should answer for. Type it the way you would say it out loud: bocholt.de is enough. The assistant reads the homepage and the sitemap and shows you the pages grouped by section. Nothing is indexed yet.
Agree on the proposal
The assistant proposes a name, a welcome message, four starter prompts, a system prompt in your site's own voice and a colour that matches it. Change whatever you like, then tell it which sections of your site to take in, for example "citizen services yes, press releases no". See Knowledge sources for what it can and cannot read.
Try it in the test widget
The round chat bubble in the bottom-left of the builder is the test widget. It chats with your current draft, so it works before you publish. Ask a question whose answer is on one of the pages you picked; the bot shows a "Searching knowledge base" step above its answer.
Publish
Click Publish in the top bar. Publishing checks that the widget can actually work once live and tells you if something is missing. See Publish and versions.
Embed it and allow your domain
Ask the assistant for the embed code, or copy it from the Install section, and paste it just before </body> on your site. Then make sure your domain is under Security → Allowed domains. The assistant adds it when you tell it the domain. Install on your website has the details and instructions per CMS.
Draft and live
Not every change waits for a publish. The rule is simple:
| Change | Takes effect |
|---|---|
| Look, greeting, language, model, system prompt, voice, transcripts | after the next Publish |
| Name, allowed domains, limits, budget cap, knowledge retrieval on/off | immediately, no publish |
| Documents and website pages in the knowledge base | immediately, once processed |
Security and cost settings apply at once on purpose: blocking a domain or capping spend must never wait for someone to remember to publish.
