External organizations
Connect your organization with another one so members on both sides can write with each other in Messages
Under Organization settings → Members & access → External organizations you connect your organization with another organization that uses DeutschlandGPT. You need the permission Connect with external organizations, which only administrators have by default. On the other side, an administrator decides as well.
Asking an organization
Under Connect an organization, enter the email address of a person in the other organization and click Send request. There is no list of all organizations.
The answer is always "Request sent", even when the address belongs to no organization that can connect. Until the other side accepts, the list shows only the address you entered, not the organization's name.
The other organization's administrators receive an email with your organization's name and verified domains. It contains no message from you.
Your organization can have at most 10 open requests at a time.
Answering a request
A request to your organization is listed at the top as Request received, with the asking organization's name and verified domains. Through Answer request (or the link in the email) you choose what is allowed:
| Permission | What it means |
|---|---|
| Shared conversations | Either side can open individual conversations to the other |
| Direct messages | Members can write directly to people in the other organization |
No connection is made without your consent. You can also decline a request and block further requests from that organization; the other side is not told. If you don't know the organization, choose Report request: the request is declined, the organization is blocked, and DeutschlandGPT reviews the report.
Changing or ending a connection
- Allow less: either side can switch off one of the two permissions. It applies to both sides at once. Switching it on again needs a new request both agree to.
- Disconnect: either side can end a connection at any time. All shared conversations are then closed to the other organization, its members leave them, and messages already written stay with the organization that owns the conversation.
- Withdraw request: you can withdraw an open request you sent.
Every step is recorded in the audit log of both organizations.
Viewing and ending shared conversations
The Shared column shows how many conversations are shared under a connection right now, by either side. Shared conversations lists them by name and says which organization owns each. You do not see their content or members here.
End sharing closes a single conversation to the other organization without ending the connection. The people of the organization that does not own the conversation leave it at once; the messages stay with the organization that owns it. How members share and invite is described under Conversations with other organizations.
Who can connect
Both organizations must be paying business customers. Trials, personal accounts, suspended organizations and organizations in professional-secrecy mode cannot connect; for them this section does not exist.
