A project keeps related conversations together under one shared context. Set the instructions and files once, and every chat inside the project uses them automatically, without you repeating yourself each time.
Creating a Project
Add project instructions: a system prompt that applies to every conversation in the project. Describe the context, tone, or constraints the model should follow.
Optionally upload project files: documents the model can reference in any conversation within the project.
Project Instructions
Project instructions work like a persistent system prompt that the model reads before every message. Keep them concrete:
- "You are a legal assistant for [Company]. Always use formal German. Cite relevant EU regulations where applicable."
- "You are a marketing copywriter. Always produce three alternatives. Keep the brand voice energetic and concise."
- "You have access to our product documentation. Help users troubleshoot issues and escalate to support when needed."
Project Files
Upload PDFs, Word documents, or text files to give the model permanent context. Every conversation in the project can reference them, the same way uploaded files and folders work in a single chat.
Project files are indexed on upload. Large documents may take a moment to process before they are available for reference.
Managing Projects
- Rename: Click the project name to edit it in place.
- Edit instructions: Update the system prompt at any time. It applies to the next message in every conversation in the project.
- Delete: Removing a project keeps its conversations. They move back to your main chat history.
Projects or Custom Apps?
Use a project when you want a private workspace where related chats share your own instructions and files. Reach for a custom app when you want a reusable assistant you can share with your organization, complete with a fixed persona and example prompts.
